Lewis Clark State College Center for Arts & History presents In the Vineyard Plein Air Competition, July 19 – 26 in local area vineyards. Competition works created throughout the week, become the body of work for the exhibit running at the Center August 7 – 29.

For the event and exhibition new and experienced plein air artists join the center at area vineyards for paint outs, side events and programming throughout the week at different times of the day. A $35 entry fee for artists to join the In the Vineyard Plein Air Competition includes their first 3 pieces of artwork to be entered into the juried event. Each additional piece entered is $10. The entry fee increases to $45 after July 19. Juried prizes include three cash prizes with a $500 Grand Prize, Winemaker’s Choice Awards, and more!

Plein air paint outs will take place at the vineyards of the following local wineries: Basalt Cellars – Wasem and DeVleming Vineyards, Clearwater Canyon Cellars Umiker Vineyard, Colter’s Creek Winery and Vineyard, and Lindsay Creek Vineyards.

Juried Awards will be given at the Plein Air opening reception during First Friday, August 7, 5:00 p.m. at the LCSC Center for Arts & History. Lewiston premier of "Idaho Wine From Bud To Taste Bud" starts at 7 p.m. in the Main Gallery. The feature length documentary is developed, produced, shot and edited by Peppershock Media of Nampa, ID. Idaho Wine, From Bud to Taste Bud is the story of how some unusual and amazing people have dedicated their lives to making award winning boutique wines in some of the most unique grape growing conditions.
