The carved bucket is a detail from the 2000 bronze and wood sculpture “A World Beyond” that stands on N.E. Stadium Way on the Washington State University campus in Pullman. Instead of a mule pulling a wagon, artist Brad Rude put the mule on top of a buckboard to express the notion that “simply by changing one’s perspective, a ‘new world’ of ideas and images opens up,” according to a placard at the site.
