A convergence of all things American is taking place Sunday when the Eagles take on the Patriots in Super Bowl LII.

That’s right. Patriots. Eagles. Lots of food. Over-hyped event. Expensive commercials. All for a sport we call football even though the rest of the world calls soccer “football.” It doesn’t get much more American than that.

Whatever your team, or whether or not you know what a touchdown is, Sunday is the perfect time to root for ‘Merica. Grab a beer, a few friends, something fried and throw a ‘Merica-themed Super Bowl party that would make your country proud. Here are some ideas to get you started:

Apple pie

Fried chicken -- or fried anything, for that matter.

Cut-off tank top

Cowboy boots

Cheap beer, none of that fancy microbrew, craft stuff.

Corn dogs

Eagles: Statues of them. Pictures of them. Live ones you keep as pets.

American flags

Red-white-and-blue anything

Red-white-and-blue hair

Grilled meat, any slab will do.

Country music  playing loudly. Classic rock works as a second option.

Volume. The louder the TV is, the louder the music is, the louder everyone will be.

Hamburgers, pizza or any combination of each.

Twinkies

Pick-up truck, and not a poster of one, it should be parked in or near your party venue. A Harley Davidson will also work.

Cheese in a can.

Beer belly, if you have one handy.

Eagle costume

Buffalo wings -- called such even though buffalo don’t have wings and they’re made of chicken meat.

Big beard

Cut-off shorts

NASCAR, playing on a side-screen somewhere.

Tattoos, preferably of an eagle.
