The subtle change in name came after the Clarkston rock band realized the word “homewrecker” was common. The band’s members decided to drop the last “e,” and Homewreckr was born.
The four men who make up Homewreckr all have day jobs, but they share what they call an “ageless passion” when the workday is done.
Bass guitarist Dave Delva works as a painter; lead guitarist Alex Black works as a sales associate; drummer Brett Gile works as a title officer; and lead vocalist Kevin Black works as a medical practice manager.
“This outlet allows me to do something meaningful,” Alex said. “I’m blessed at what opportunities I’ve had because of this.”
Homewreckr is gearing up for the release of its debut EP, “The Wreckning,” on June 30 and is celebrating in true rock ’n’ roll fashion with a release party at 7 p.m. June 27 at the 3rd Wheel in Lewiston. The EP was recorded over one weekend, and the band had only been playing together for three months before its first studio session.
The men of Homewreckr said they’re constantly impressed with the evolving music scene in the Lewiston and Clarkston region.
“Even though this is a small town, good music can still come from it,” Delva said. “I’m proud to be a part of this music scene — it’s super transformative.”
The band’s fan base has proven to come from far and wide, and Homewreckr even received a Facebook message from a follower in Tennessee who expressed his excitement for the EP release.
“I’ve been playing for 27 years in different bands,” Gile said. “I’m so satisfied and happy with what we’ve created, and I’m excited for others to experience it.”
The release of the EP is a bit of a personal life goal for Black.
“I added this as the No. 1 thing on my bucket list that I wanted to do,” he said. “It’s an awesome realization that my dream of music doesn’t have to be put aside.”
