A psychedelic dance journey: Asher Fulero Band set to make a stop in Moscow

MOSCOW — Fresh off the release of their debut full-length album, Asher Fulero Band is making a stop at John’s Alley Tavern this weekend on their fall tour across the Pacific Northwest.

“Catching Air,” released earlier this month, is a compilation of the funky-rock sound that lead singer Asher Fulero has worked so hard to fine tune.

“It’s part dance party, part psychedelic journey,” Fulero said. “We have songs that are written and then we also have songs that are more open-ended … we play around with the spaces in between those two things.”

The Portland, Ore.,-based band worked on the album about six months before releasing it independently, Fulero said. Live performances inspired most of this collection of song experiments.

“Catching Air” also features some high-profile guests such as Steve Berlin from Los Lobos, also from Portland.

“We’re really excited for our new music, and we love playing music we love to listen to,” Fulero said. “We just try and do stuff that’s fun and awesome.”

Asher Fulero Band’s music is available online at www.bandcamp.com, iTunes and Spotify.
