Artist Dana Aldis is teaching this class to students age 16 and above 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 2. The cost is $83 with students bringing their own materials which are shown on the barn’s online calendar listing . Students will focus on structure, proportions and anatomical details of the head; develop their drawings
to create accurate, beautiful portrait renderings. Students will also explore composition through quick, thumbnail sketches and warm up gesture drawings from the model, before moving on to more finished
work. Clothing and Drapery Elements will also be addressed, as well as toning the paper.
Aldis has a BFA from the Corcoran College of Art & Design in Washington DC and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art. In 2002 she began teaching drawing and painting at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, W. Va. She and her husband moved to Moscow in 2011.
Artisans at the Dahmen Barn is a non-profit creativity center in Uniontown in the big white barn behind an iron wheel fence. The facility is fully ADA compliant and is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday with no daily admission fee.
