Butters will sign copies of her book from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at Costco in Clarkston. That signing will be followed by another from 2-2:15 p.m. at And Books Too, 918 Sixth St., Clarkston.
In her fourth book the Moscow Martha Stewart of the Northwest offers advice on how to shop for, fix up, hitch and tow a trailer. She explains how to pitch a tent and fix a flat. Outdoor cooking and pooping in style are covered and if all that leaves you parched there are instructions for throwing a glamping cocktail party. For those staying close to home there are guides to glamming up a backyard retreat, porch or rooftop.
Butters coined the term “glamping” years ago when she founded her Idaho canvas wall-tent bed and breakfast, which has since been featured in the New York Times Magazine, Travel & Leisure and elsewhere. This year she started International Glamping Weekend, an annual weekend dedicated to glamorous camping where prom dresses and chocolate are not uncommon.
Butters is a former wilderness ranger and environmental activist turned organic farmer and author. Her lifestyle magazine, MaryJanesFarm, is in its 12th year of publication.
