Books: "Madisonville" and "Tic, Tic, Tic, Super Volcano"

“Madisonville,” by J.A. Huff

Prisoners keep disappearing at Madisonville, Idaho’s most secluded penitentiary for hardened criminals. After almost getting away with the perfect crime, six college students are sentenced to Madisonville, but after only a few weeks behind bars they wake up in an Idaho mountain meadow with no recollection about how they got there. They’ve been left with a few supplies and a note that reads, “You are being hunted.”

Writing under the name J.A. Huff, the violent thriller set in north central Idaho was self-published by Josh Huffaker of Lewiston. The book is available at And Books Too in Clarkston, Ryan's Wilderness Inn in Lowell, KOA Campground in Kamiah and Olive's Auto Parts in Orofino, as well as online at www.inkwaterbooks.com.

Update Aug. 7:

Huffaker  won the Grand Prize at the Pacific Rim Book Festival for his novel “Madisonville,” self-published in June. Huffaker plans to travel to an awards ceremony in Hollywood this month to receive the honor.

“Tic, Tic, Tic, Super Volcano,” by David Allen Summers and DeEtta Jane

Scientists believe the massive volcano that lies underneath Yellowstone National Park is due for an eruption. In “Tic, Tic, Tic, Super Volcano,” Richard Carlin of Lewiston, writing under the name David Allen Summers, and co-author DeEtta Jane, have self-published a rambling sci-fi romance set around the event.
