Fans of the literary arts will gather in Joseph, Oregon in July for readings and author talks as part of the 32nd Summer Fishtrap Weekend Gathering.
The legacy of Ursula K. Le Guin is one of the focuses of this year’s gathering planned for July 12-14.Free evening readings will take place at 7:30 p.m. on the lawn of Wallowa Lake Lodge July 8 to 11.
American-Mexican poet and novelist Luis Alberto Urrea will give an opening address July 8. Beth Piatote, Scott Russell Sanders and Sharma Shields will read July 9. Perrin Kerns, Kim Stafford and MOsley WOtta will read July 10. Anis Mojgani, Laura Pritchett and Gary Ferguson will read July 11.
Award-winning author Molly Gloss give the keynote address for the weekend gathering at 7:30 p.m. July 12 followed by a reading by Jamie Ford. Tickets are $25.
On July 13 there will be a screening of the award-winning documentary, “Worlds of Ursula K. Le Guin” followed by a panel discussion “Dreams and Tales: Remembering Ursula” with Gloss, Luis Urrea, and Scott Russell Sanders. Tickets are $25.
The Summer Fishtrap Weekend Gathering July 12-14 features intensive workshops, writing craft talks, open mic readings and other events. Registration is $300 and includes meals.
