People visiting Spokane can see work by Cottonwood artist Theresa Henson on display at the Chase Gallery in the lower level of Spokane City Hall. The exhibit, titled “The Feels,” features six artists whose work is meant to be touched. Henson’s carved cypress wood sculpture, “Touchable,” is one of the works.
“I have long felt that people should be able to touch the work, especially sculpture, (because for) sculptors, it’s all about touch as well as the visual experience,” Henson told the Spokesman-Review in an interview.
Henson is creative services director at St. Gertrude’s Monastery. She relocated to Cottonwood from Seattle a year ago. The exhibit is on display until Dec. 29.
