Glad to know the author doesn’t understand what a federal republic is and why it was created. Each of the states has agreed to belong to a republic where they can govern themselves within the state as they wish – like mini- countries. The federal government (note: not a NATIONAL government) governs inter state issues and those impacting the country as a whole – like the army/navy etc and the treasury. It is also why the senate has equal representation – and the sole authority to ratify treaties and provide advice and consent on supreme court nominees and certain cabinet level positions – but does not approve management positions within the White House Staff – chief of staff for example.

Some EXPERT. And not even an American.
