LEWISTON-CLARKSTON VALLEY
It’s a competition to be the scariest Friday and Saturday night at the Hells Gate State Park Haunted Hay Ride. Gates are open from 6-10 p.m. Admission is $5 per car. Hay rides start at 7 and will take riders on a tour of frightening campsites. Nonprofit organizations are competing for prize money by decorating a site with a scene of their choice. Scenes will be judged by a panel of community members and proceeds will go to all the participants with the top three winners receiving the greatest amount.
The haunted house Nightmare on Grelle Avenue is open 6-10 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Wednesday. Admission is $10 per person. Children younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult 21 or older. On Halloween night the lights will be turned on and the terror turned down so younger children can walk through and trick or treat. The building is at 2621 Grelle Ave. Tickets are available at Hot Shots coffee stands, Rosauers, all Potlatch No. 1 Federal Credit Union locations and Zions Bank in the Lewiston Orchards.
All the stops will be pulled out for Fright Nights at Spookin’ Boos Haunted House next to Brackenbury Square in downtown Lewiston. Hours are 6-9 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Wednesday. Admission is $3. Proceeds will go to the Lewiston Food Bank and the Lewiston Library Foundation. From 3-5 p.m. Wednesday during Downtown Trick or Treat there will be a children’s time when child-friendly costumes will come out. Admission is $1 for kids during this time. The haunted house is at 600 Main St.
Those ages 17 and older can have “The Rocky Horror Picture Show Experience” at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Lewiston Civic Theatre, 805 Sixth Ave. The event includes beer, wine, food and contests. Tickets are $25. More details are at lctheatre.org.
Children and their parents are invited to the 20th annual Talkington Hall Safe Trick-or-Treat at 6:30 p.m. Sunday on the Lewis-Clark State College campus. The hall is at 419 Eighth Ave. Parents must accompany their children door to door through the residence hall. Admission is a suggested donation of one canned food item per family for local food banks. The event ends when the candy runs out.
The Asotin County Family Aquatic Center will hold a Boo Bash 5-7 p.m. Sunday. Kids are invited to wear a costume. There will be games, contests and prizes. Admission is $3.50 per child and free for adults.
Downtown Lewiston Trick or Treat is from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday.
The Lewiston Center Mall will hold its annual Mall-O-Ween from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday. Kids in costume are invited to trick or treat at the mall’s stores. Special Olympics athletes will be helping hand out candy.
The Clearwater Corn Maze is open 6-10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. There will be a Haunted Halloween Maze 6-10 p.m. Wednesday. Admission is $5. Kids four and younger are free.
MOSCOW
For years it’s been rumored that the University of Idaho’s Ridenbaugh Hall is haunted. Saturday it will be true when UI music fraternities will put on a haunted house with the theme A Night at the Movies. Hours are 6-11:30 p.m. A child-friendly version with kids games and activities will be open from 6-7 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is $1 or one canned food item for the Moscow Food Bank.
The fifth annual Creatures of the Night event will take place from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Palouse Clearwater Environmental Institute. Activities include games, storytelling and exploring the center’s nature trails and learning about nocturnal critters like owls, spiders and wolves from local experts. Bring a flashlight. Costumes are encouraged. Tickets are available until 7:30 p.m. Admission for non-members is $6 adults, and $4 children. Kids younger than age 3 are admitted free.
There will be games, candy and more from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Eastside Marketplace where kids are invited to trick or treat.
The University of Idaho’s annual Tubaween concert is 7:30-9:30 p.m. Wednesday. The festive production put on by university students features high energy tuba playing in a combination of solos, duets and ensemble recitals. Attendees are encouraged to dress up in costumes. A prize for best costume will be awarded. Admission is free but donations are encouraged.
PULLMAN
Ghouls will take to the trails of Pullman Saturday for the Pullman Moose Monster Dash, a costume contest and fun run sponsored by the Pullman Moose Lodge. The costume contest with music and snacks starts at 1:30 p.m. and the 5K run starts at 3 p.m. at the Spot Shot parking lot, also known as the Pullman Farmers Market parking lot. Run registration is $15 at the race. Proceeds will go to Second Chance Animal, a Pullman nonprofit that helps animals in rural populations in Idaho and Washington.
Nightmare at Moose Manor, the annual haunted house at the Moose Lodge, is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hours are 7 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday and 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday at the lodge at 150 S.E. Kamiaken St. Admission is $4 and two non-perishable food items. Proceeds will go to Second Chance Animal and the Pullman Food Bank. People who participate in the Moose Monster Dash can bring their race number for a $2 discount on admission.
PALOUSE
The 11th annual Haunted Palouse continues Friday and Saturday. For $15 (cash only) people can tour two downtown haunted houses and take a haunted hayride. Hours are 7-10 p.m. The event is for ages 12 and older. Advance ticket sales are available only for groups of 20 or more by calling (509) 595-1129. Tickets on performance nights are sold from 7-10 p.m. near the Palouse branch of AmericanWest Bank.
OROFINO
From 5-8 p.m. Wednesday is the Trick or Treat Rocking the Street celebration on Johnson Avenue. With candy and contests more than 40 businesses will participate in the new event sponsored by the Orofino Chamber of Commerce. The event is free. Children should be accompanied by an adult. There will be a mini haunted house in the Rex Theatre and other attractions.
The event coincides with the annual Kings Truck or Treat from 3-6 p.m. in the Kings parking lot. The best decorated vehicle will win a $50 gift card. Kings will have a costume contest. First place wins a bicycle.
The Clearwater Youth Alliance will hold its annual Halloween Carnival from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Orofino Junior High School gymnasium. The carnival is for infants to sixth-graders. GENESEE
The St. Mary’s Genesee Harvest Festival is Sunday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The fair, with a country store, fresh Genesee sausage and turkey dinner with all the fixings, is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 138 N. Jackson St. Admission is $9 adults and $5 for children ages 5-12.
