California Quail Chick

jayarmstrong
Just weeks old, these chicks worked our garden over in search of earwigs and any other bugs they could find. Surprising, they can actually fly at this stage in their life. The parents were in our Lilac tree, perched there with a watchful eye, about 10 feet away. Photo by Jay Armstrong, taken near the Normal Hill area in Lewiston, Idaho.
