MOSCOW --- Planet 3 Extreme Air Park is the region’s newest indoor activity center, and it’s the perfect place to burn off the restless, trapped-indoors energy of winter.
While the word “extreme” might sound a warning bell, this indoor trampoline park is a well-controlled setting for serious play for people of all ages. It’s part of a national chain that recently set up shop in Moscow, and while it’s quickly become popular for parents of young children, you’ll also find teens, college kids and adults literally bouncing off the walls at this “air park.”
The center is an open room filled with interlocking trampolines, including one angled up the side of the wall. Padded mats cover any springs or connectors. There’s enough to keep kids occupied for at least an hour. Besides open space for jumping and a couple basketball hoops, there are foam pit features which include an obstacle course, a trapeze, a slackline and aerial hammocks. The most rambunctious corner is a trampoline dodgeball court.
Here’s what you should know before you go.
Before you visit, sign waivers and buy your tickets online. This saves time and allows you to avoid lines in the center’s small waiting area. Time slots begin every half hour and you can pay for an hour, an hour and a half, or two hours. Cost for children ages 6 and younger ranges from $8 for an hour, to $16 for two hours. Tickets for ages 7 and older are $12 for an hour to $20 for two hours. After you arrive, those jumping are given a colored wristband to show their allowed time. They are also required to purchase and wear a $3 pair of grippy “safety” socks not included in admission. (Be aware, if you buy online and then cancel, tickets are nonrefundable.)
Staff in referee outfits are positioned throughout the center vigilantly enforcing the rules (no running, no lying down) and handing out disposable ice packs as needed, which they frequently are.
For adults who don’t want to “fly” there are benches around the edges to sit on, but there’s not much to do besides watch. There’s a vending massage chair, but if you sit in it without paying a referee will call you out.
