Village Centre Cinemas in Lewiston is the winner of the 2017 Inland 360 Readers' Choice Award for Best Movie Theater.
Michelle Dougherty, the regional manager for the theater chain which includes theaters in Moscow and Pullman, knew exactly who to credit for the award.
"I think the one thing that sets us apart is our amazing staff," Dougherty said. "It's really remarkable. We employ mostly high school and college kids ... and all of them do a fabulous job. Movies are all about escape, and we want it to be a great experience from the minute people walk in the door."
Village Centre Cinemas in Lewiston collected more then 46 percent of the 732 votes cast in the contest, which spanned eight days of online voting at inland360.com.
Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre in Moscow and the Moscow location for Village Centre Cinemas each received Finalist recognition in the category. Complete results can be found at https://inland360.com/the-360s/ Dougherty said the Lewiston theater has undergone some recent renovations with new carpet throughout, the installation of digital concession menu boards and the addition of lobby monitors playing movie trailers.
She said moviegoers can also skip the box office line by purchasing tickets at home and going directly to the lobby, where they can show a smart-phone digital ticket to the ticket takers. Dougherty also could not help but get excited about a new arrival this week -- an Icee frozen lemonade machine that she's sure will help movie-goers escape the coming summer heat.
