Lots of Luck, Your Majesty!

Lauren Paterson of Kamiah examines the lottery ticket that Santa stuffed in her stocking. Lauren is wearing a paper crown snagged from a traditional "Christmas cracker." It's quite common for British people to wear a paper crown on Christmas Day. The idea of wearing paper crowns probably derives from the Twelfth Night celebrations, where kings or queens supervised the proceedings. Lauren's mother-in-law, Le Ann Wilson of Orofino, took the photo Dec. 25.
