While many films in our Christmas Movie Madness bracket inspired holiday cheer, some weren’t feeling the love.
“This Christmas” came in last to earn the fewest votes with 14. Only 19 folks felt like going to “Christmas in Connecticut,” and the “Babes in Toyland” are walking out with a 243-to-28 loss to the 1947 version of “A Miracle on 34th Street.” The closest competition was the Saint Nicholas Division match-up between “The Muppet Christmas Carol” and “Scrooged”. Nine votes kept the Muppets in the competition.
Other ousted films are “Bad Santa,” “Arthur Christmas,” “Four Christmases,” “A Christmas Carol (1984),” “Christmas with the Kranks,” “Love Actually,” “The Family Stone,” “I’ll be Home for Christmas,” “Jingle All the Way,” “Christmas Town,” “Polar Express” and “Miracle on 34th Street (1994).”
Both Grinches managed to survive the first round, but neither responded to requests for comment.
The three films that received the most votes in the first round were “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer” with 257. Followed closely by “A Christmas Story” with 254 and “Home Alone” coming in at 244.
