Remnants of a Watchtower Turret

CubFan826
This was taken along the Hadrian's Wall Path in northern England, built by the Emperor Hadrian in 122 A.D. Besides long sections of the wall, there are remains of the turrets and also the soldiers' barracks (called "Milecastles"). It's an incredible experience to be so close to this engineering marvel, almost 2,000 years old! Photo was taken by Virginia McConnell in September 2017, near Once Brewed, England.
