It’s practically perfect in every way, and it’s coming to the Palouse.
“Mary Poppins” is making its local debut tonight at the Regional Theatre of the Palouse in Pullman.
Kelli Barham, who plays Mary Poppins, is no stranger to the RTOP stage, as she’s been in past productions like “Les Miserables” and “Into the Woods.”
“Mary Poppins is so well known, so there’s a lot of pressure, but it’s a lot of fun,” Barham said. “She was the easiest character to get into.”
Nate Barham, who is Kelli's husband and plays Bert, says there are many differences between the Broadway production of “Mary Poppins,” the film and the books.
“I think people are expecting to see Dick Van Dyke on stage, and dancing penguins, but this production, in particular, is very special to us because it’s a little bit different from what people are familiar with in the film,” Barham said. “This play preserves the magic and fun people love about ‘Mary Poppins.’ ” If you go WHAT: RTOP presents “Mary Poppins” WHEN: Today through Sunday and April 23-26.
