Stare Down

Dawn Koehler
Great Horned Owl sitting in the Aspen tree outside my dining room window in Grangeville. Photo taken on June 14, with an Apple IPhone 15 Pro Max using the 120mm lens at f2.8. The owl sat there for several hours, evidently digesting a meal, since at one point, she expelled a large pellet that we examined later to find small bird bones. Raptors often visit our bird feeders to make a meal of the birds we feed! Robins nesting nearby scolded and dive bombed her, but they failed to ruffle her feathers.
