Eight miles of prairie serenity are at your toe tips
By Dominique Wald
Many of us are familiar with the stretch of road that connects Pullman to Moscow. Most of us base that familiarity on driving, but how many of us have taken a more active approach?
The Bill Chipman Trail is an 8-mile path that runs alongside the road and features educational rest stops and 13 bridges crossing Paradise Creek. You can walk it, bike it or even roller-blade it (for those who wish to throw it back to the ’90s).
The trail first opened in 1998 and is named after Bill Chipman, a prominent community member and Palouse businessman who died in a car crash in 1996.
Now that summer is here, take this opportunity and grab a walking buddy. For the introverted folks, grab some earphones and update your music play list. Don’t worry, Netflix will still be waiting for you when you get back.
Double dare: walk or bike the entire trail and back. That’s 16 miles of pure Palouse beauty.
