And the winner for Best Ice Cream Shop is … Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe Happy cows plus happy students equals happy ice cream.
That’s the simple equation that led Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe to be declared the winner of the Inland 360 Readers’ Choice award for Best Ice Cream Spot.
Eric Needham, supervisor of Ferdinand’s, said from the production of the ice cream and cheese to the front-counter operations, the shop is run solely by students from the food science departments at Washington State University and the University of Idaho.
“It’s a great location, with happy students running the operation,” Needham said. Needham said the shop has many longtime regulars who for 50 years have been buying cheese and ice cream there.
“They remember the ice cream store being in Troy Hall,” he said. Ferdinand’s has long been a tradition at WSU.
“We’re recognized for great ice cream throughout the United States, so this award adds to our acclaim,” Needham said.
Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe is located at 2035 N.E. Ferdinand’s Lane on the WSU campus in Pullman.
