Whitman County students can show ‘Why Voting Matters’

Whitman County students in third through 12th grade have until March 31 to submit entries in the League of Women Voters of Pullman and Whitman County’s third annual Visual Arts Competition.

The theme for this year’s contest is “Why Does Voting Matter?” Participants can use any of a wide range of media, including crayons, colored pencils, markers, pastels, paints, clay, digital media and photography to create their entry. Full rules are at bit.ly/LWVcompetition.

Students can win $50 to spend at local businesses and a copy of the League of Women Voters’ civics textbook “The State We’re In: Washington.”

Winners will be announced April 12, and an artists’ reception is set for 2 p.m. April 20 at the Neill Public Library in Pullman.
