Perconti showcases solo sax range in new CD

“Single Reed,” an album of solo classical saxophone music, is the latest CD by saxophonist Bill Perconti.

The album features classical saxophone music ranging from abstract to traditional by composers Warren Benson, Benjamin Britten, Allan Blank, Paul Bonneau, Eugene Bozza, Leo Kraft and Rick Sowash. Perconti performs on five saxophones in the album — soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass. Four of the pieces are world-premier recordings.

Perconti leads the Alloy Saxophone Quartet, a professional Pacific Northwest ensemble and recently retired as a professor of music at Lewis-Clark State College. The album is available through Albany Records at www.albanyrecords.com.
