The Rusty River Band features Jeff Zitzelberger who goes by the stage name Jeff Collins.

Jeff Zitzelberger, a 1983 Lewiston High School graduate, is making a name for himself as Jeff Collins, the lead singer of the alt country Rusty River Band that performed during the Sundance Film Festival last weekend at Concerts at Park City.

The concert series coincides with the annual film festival that draws stars and producers from around the globe. Zitzelberger is the lead singer of the four-piece band that recently signed a record deal with Power Media Entertainment. Their first album, “Moonshine,” is set to be released sometime this year, he said.

“People were yelling and screaming, dancing and having a great time to our music,” Zitzelberger said about performing in Park City, Utah.

Zitzelberger, 50, grew up in Lewiston and left in 1983 to join the U.S. Air Force. He lives in West Point, Utah, with his wife and children and now works as a civilian for the Air Force. The Rusty River Band formed in 2009 and started as a cover band but quickly moved on to original music, he said, adding that people say they sound like a blend of Lynyrd Skynyrd, John Cougar Mellencamp and Bob Seger.

The band was featured on a local television station interview during its appearances at the festival.
