Mabel Vogt of Potlatch came home with top honors from the National Oldtime Fiddlers Contest held in Weiser, Idaho, June 20-25.
Vogt, 73, took first place in the Senior-Senior division of the contest for musicians over age 70. She also won best female entertainer in the certified division on June 20. She performed with guitar accompanists Darin Meeks and Rod Anderson of Spokane and Jim McMillan of Bozeman, Mont.Vogt has been playing and teaching fiddle on the Palouse for more than 40 years. In April she won the senior senior division of the Northwest Regional Fiddle Contest.
