Sometimes I’m behind someone in a checkout line and they’re rummaging through their purse and cannot for the life of them find their wallet. I want to know what exactly is taking up so much space in that bag that a rather large item gets lost. When I want to know something, I go out and get the answer.
That brings me to one of my favorite things to write: What’s in the bag? With each story, I feature the bag of someone and the essentials they carry in it. This week, I sneak a peek into the purse of retired teacher Sally McRae of Lewiston (although, no, I didn’t tap on her shoulder in a stalled checkout line and ask for this interview).- Sunglasses – “If I haven’t lost my latest pair, there’s usually a pair in there.”
- Tissues – La Familia brand? “Yeah, those I probably bought in Ecuador.”
- Wallet
- Passport – “I probably shouldn’t carry that with me, but I didn’t take it out after my trip.”
- Lip gloss
- Cell phone
- Winco and Rosauer’s receipts – “I always have tons of these stuffed in my purse.”
- Pens
What did I learn from this little peek? I should shop at Winco because those savings are outrageous, and I also need to travel enough that a passport is a necessity.
