The Broadway musical “Newsies” opens today at the Regional Theatre of the Palouse in Pullman.
Based on the 1992 Walt Disney musical film, “Newsies” is inspired by the true events of the 1899 newsboy strike in New York City. Through high-energy song and dance, newspaper delivery boy Jack Kelly and the other newsboys fight for what is right as they go on strike against major news organizations, making history to increase wages and begin a conversation about child labor laws.
Additional shows are 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday and Nov. 7-10; and 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and Nov. 10 and 11. Admission is $20. Tickets online at www.rtoptheatre.org or by calling (509) 334-0750.
