The film, in Chinese with English subtitles, is a 1963 animated classic, produced by the Wan Brothers, pioneers of animated film in China. It tells the story of Sun Wukong, a naughty-but-heroic monkey, who protects the monk Xuanzang as he travels to India in search of Buddhist sutras.
