Six bands will compete this weekend at the Rendezvous in the Park Showcase with the hope of being among the three selected as openers for the headliners of Moscow’s Rendezvous in the Park in July.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre. Headliners for Rendezvous include Samantha Fish, Los Lonely Boys and The Washington Idaho Symphony. Audience members will be able to select their two favorite bands, and the third will be chosen by the Rendezvous Board of Directors. Here’s a brief rundown of each band scheduled to perform:

Blue Funk Jailbreak Hailing from Moscow, band members include Brian Dyre on vocals, Tom Garrett on drums, Axel Krings on guitar and Dave Snider on bass. Blue Funk Jailbreak’s sound is a mix blues, funk, rock and reggae.

The Hoodoo Two Band members Double G and the Bassman come from the Hoodoo Mountains in Idaho and describe their sound as a combination of backwoods country funk and southern-fried rockabilly blues.

Yellow Dog Flats The band features Gary Reed on vocals, Tom Carroll on harmonica and percussion and Henry C. Willard on electric guitar. All are Moscow natives, and the band has been performing their unique mix of country, blues, folk and Americana since 2009.

An American Forrest

An American Forrest Impressionist Americana songwriter Alex Forrest is from the rural Pacific Northwest and is the sole member of An American Forrest. Founded in 2012, An American Forrest spent the beginning of this year touring, making stops in Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Idaho.

Dawn of Life Originating in Spokane, blues-rock-alt band Dawn of Life consists of brothers Stephen and Sam Shoemaker. Dawn of Life is inspired by bands like Led Zeppelin, The Black Keys, White Stripes and Jimi Hendrix.

Genius in Remission Band members Xris Hogan, Tim Gregory, Steve Farr, Ron Rasco and Brandon Farr make up the group, which has dabbled in blues, jazz and progressive rock while maintaining rock ’n’ roll roots.
