With 900 works of art each priced at $30, the Moscow Arts Commission is poised for a three-hour fire sale Friday, Dec. 6.
Thirty local artists selected by the commission created 30 pieces of art each for the “30 30 30” show that opens Thursday, Dec. 5 with a sneak peek of the works at the Third Street Gallery in Moscow City Hall. The 6- by 6-inch canvas panels include photography, painting, mixed media, drawing, fiber art, printmaking and more.
“We have some serious artists participating,” says arts commission director Kathleen Burns. People may view the art from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. The sale begins with the ring of a bell at 4:05 p.m. Friday and ends at 7 p.m. Refreshments and a no-host bar will be available. Live music will be provided by the Palouse Jazz Project.
People preview the works, and if they are interested in purchasing a piece they come to the sale and remove it from the wall after the bell rings, Burns says. People can pay by cash, check or credit card.
“Last year, a lot of people purchased three or four pieces and then re-gifted them. It makes it pretty easy to give original art for the holidays.”
Artists participating are: Dana Aldis, James Amell, Elizabeth Blakesley, Nancy Bowman, Jan Gordon Brown, Jenni Chaffin, Forrest Dickison, Ray Esparsen, David Giese, Elizabeth Graff, David Herbold, Stacy Isenbarger, Aaron Johnson, Bobbi Kelly, John Kirkland, Ryan Law, Jeanne Leffingwell, Gloria Luther, Iris Mayes, Martha McIver, Mario Montes, Anne Pekie, Andy Sewell, Lynette Smith, Ellen Vieth, Lianne Wappett, Lisa Washburn, Susan Baily Weaver, Nara Woodland and Sandi Worthington.
The Third Street Gallery is on the second and third floors of Moscow City Hall at 206 E. Third St.
