With the region poised to become a distinct American Viticulture Area, it’s a prime time to explore the burgeoning wine scene. With seven wineries in a 30-mile radius there’s a lot to choose from.

For the atmosphere, the indoor and outdoor tasting room at Lindsay Creek Vineyards in the Lewiston Orchards offers scenic views of 15 acres of grapevines surrounded by rolling wheat fields.

Also in Lewiston, you’ll find Wine Press Northwest’s Idaho Winery of the Year for 2015, Clearwater Canyon Cellars, in a warehouse at the Port of Lewiston.

Across the river is Clarkston’s Basalt Cellars, making award-winning wine since 2004.

Fifteen miles away, Colter’s Creek Tasting Room and Wine Bar in Juliaetta serves wine crafted at their nearby vineyard, along with a wide variety of small plate foods.

Three wineries call the Palouse home. For more than 25 years, Camas Creek Winery in downtown Moscow has handcrafted a variety of red, white and sparkling wines and sweet dessert meads. At Merry Cellars Winery and Tasting Room in Pullman, one can sip wine at a tasting bar or on the outdoor patio where summer concerts are held.

Fifteen miles south in Uniontown, Wawawai Canyon Winery has opened a new tasting room.

Open hours vary, so be sure to check with venues before you visit.
