Does winter driving make your blood run cold? Here’s three tips to give you some peace of mind.

  1. If you don’t have snow tires or good traction, purchase a set of chains to keep in your vehicle just in case. Practice using them in dry conditions so you know how in an emergency.

  1. Be prepared for the worst with winter driving supplies in the vehicle. Blankets, water, snacks, matches, a flashlight, jumper cables, sand and a shovel are things you could include.

  1. Monitor road conditions with your mobile device. Here’s a list of free apps with current road condition information, roadside camera images, closures and traffic reports. Search for them in your device’s app store and download them before you go.
