The group, named the Anne Bollinger Center, will hold a social hour meet and greet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10 at Weibler Financial, 508 Eighth St., Lewiston. The group is open to community members who are interested in learning about the restoration and conservation of the Anne Bollinger Center, which is the official name of the sandstone church on the corner of Eighth Street and Sixth Avenue. The building was home to the Lewiston Civic Theatre for decades before being condemned by the city in August 2016. It was originally built as the First Methodist Episcopal Church in 1907.
According to a news statement, the group’s mission is to restore and conserve the art, craft and context of the building, which is on the historic register. The group envisions the building as an asset of community involvement and economic development for the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley. Its members are working with city officials to explore future uses for the building while developing a campaign to structurally restore it.
