A show hole is that empty feeling you get when you’ve finished binge-watching a series and now feel your life has no meaning. To prevent that feeling, here are some tips:
Take the time to heal. Don’t jump into a new show right away. Take the time to process the show, whether that be its jokes or its thrills. Talk it over with other fans. Read about it online. Watch interviews with the cast. When you’re ready to move on, do so.
Look for similar titles/genres. While you can’t replace the show, you can find something that’s kind of like it. The best way to do that is to rate what you watch to get suggestions about other shows that are similar.
Have a list. There’s so much new stuff everyday it’s easy to keep an ongoing list of what to watch next so when you’re done you can easily move on to the next thing.
Genre rotation. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. After watching a dark drama, try an upbeat comedy or vice-versa, that way you don’t end up being over saturated in something too dark or too light.
Watch your favorites. In the period of time between finishing a show and starting a new one, go back and watch a series you’ve seen before, either the whole thing or just a few episodes. It’s a good way to unwind from a new series.
